What you will be doing
We are seeking an experienced Senior Data Scientist who excels in developing and deploying artificial intelligence models into production environments. As senior and data science team lead, you will be hands-on and lead the design, development, and deployment of advanced AI models to solve complex business challenges.

Furthermore, your key responsibilities include:

• AI Model Development: Lead the end-to-end development of AI models, from ideation to deployment, collaborating with cross-functional teams to understand business requirements.

• Model Training and Optimization: Utilise machine learning techniques and algorithms to build robust models, ensuring accuracy, scalability, and efficiency.

• Model Productionization: Drive the deployment of AI models into production, working closely with engineering and DevOps teams to ensure seamless integration and scalability.

• Experimentation and Evaluation: Design experiments and validation strategies to assess model performance, iteratively improving models based on empirical results.

• Data Exploration and Feature Engineering: Analyse complex data sets, engineer features, and extract insights to enhance model performance.

• Cross-functional Collaboration and Communication: Work collaboratively with stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical solutions, and effectively communicate findings and recommendations.

• Team Leadership: Act as a mentor and leader for the data science team (currently 2 other people), providing technical guidance, setting objectives, and fostering a collaborative and innovative environment.

• Project Management: Oversee multiple projects simultaneously, aligning team efforts with business goals, and ensuring timely delivery of high-quality solutions.

• Strategic Planning: Collaborate with stakeholders to understand business needs, identify opportunities, and develop data-driven strategies.

The ideal candidate

Required Skills and Qualifications:

• Advanced degree (Master's or Ph.D.) in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or related field.

• Expertise in Machine Learning: Extensive practical experience in developing and implementing machine learning models (specially supervised learning, Reinforcement learning), using tools such as neural networks packages (Pytorch, Tensorflow).

• AI Model Deployment: Proven track record of deploying machine learning models into production, understanding the challenges and best practices involved. Using pipeline (such as Kedro and MLFlow) and production tools (ArgoCD, Kafka, Kubernetes).

• Programming Skills: Proficiency in programming languages like Python or R for data manipulation, analysis, and model development.

• Statistical Analysis: Strong statistical background and expertise in experimental design and hypothesis testing.

• Data Wrangling and Visualization: Experience in data preprocessing, cleaning, and visualisation techniques using tools like Pandas, NumPy, Matplotlib, or similar libraries. Also related, knowledge in databases (sql databases like snowflake and mysql) and cloud services like AWS.

• Problem-solving Skills: Open mindset, ability to identify complex problems, develop innovative solutions, and iterate on models for continuous improvement.

• Communication Skills: Excellent communication and presentation skills to convey technical concepts to diverse audiences.

• Project Management: Strong project management skills with the ability to prioritise tasks, manage deadlines & pressure, and coordinate team efforts effectively. Balance of people-oriented and task-oriented
